OCMCO Spring Concert

We got to go to my brother-in-laws concert last night. It was so good. We loved it. We were pretty high up so these video's aren't as good as last time. Once again, the concert sold out. Many of his choirs doubled in size since Christmas.
Did you know there was another verse to "Popcorn Popping?" There is now. Brett wrote this one. It's so cute.

Once you hear both verses being sung together I'm sure you'll love it too. It's definitely my favorite.

I need some pointers from Brett. I can hardly get my 4 year olds in Primary not to jump up in the air during "Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam." And he somehow has 40 of them standing there like it's nothing. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! (Maybe, I need a full orchestra each Sunday.)

All the choirs and orchestra together: "He's Got The Whole World in His Hands."
Like I said last time...he will write the song or he re-arranges almost every song performed so it's always has his twist. He's incredible. These video's don't do the night justice. It is breath taking to be there.

Happy Birthday "ISA"

AKA: Alissa, Chad's sister. My kids have always called her Isa. I spent a few nights this last week making her a reversible apron in her favorite colors so Chad's Mom could take it with her this weekend.

My kids will randomly get all sad and say, "We miss Isa!" Totally out of the blue. Alissa we do miss you tons and we can't wait for you to come home from BYU this summer!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Ok...so we are late at posting. But I wasn't late on the 4 leaf clover hair-do...

I kind of liked the 3 leaf clover better but what kind of a Mom would I be if I didn't send my daughter to school with a little luck on St. Patty's Day?

What happens when you put your 5 year old daughter in charge of Family Night...

Thought it would be fun. It was. More than fun, I'd say...HILARIOUS.

"Okay, we are going to start with an opening song: I Love to See the Temple."

I'm thinking this is going well.

After the prayer...Alexis starts rambling about the weirdest things. So I remind her of my question I wanted her to answer while teaching us: What do you think Heavenly Father and Jesus want us to work on this week.

"Oh ya...

First: We are not going to yell at our daughters."

(hmmm...this isn't quite going as planned...but maybe brutal honesty is the way we are going tonight. But for my sake...she got in trouble before school that morning so it was fresh on her mind.)

"Second: We are going to be nice to all our friends."

(this is better...considering her paper frog has been put on the uh-oh lily pad at school because her and her two friends keep arguing during lunch. Three girls has never been a good thing!)

"Third: We are going to put a feather in his hat and call him MACARONI."

(interesting. But, we all know this five year old's mind is starting to wander about now.)

"And last: We are going to LISTEN TO OUR PARENTS."

(Carter is marching around the room with her as she states this. Trying to copy everything she says. I'm thoroughly enjoying this last goal of the week.)

"And those are the ten things we are going to work on this week."

"Okay. I don't know about ten things. I think we missed a few in the middle but that was great, Alexis."

"Wait. I'm not done. We will now ride our bikes to the beach. And I will ride my own bike."

"Alexis, it's dark. It's too late for that."

"Fine. Our closing song will be: Yankee Doodle went to Town."

At least, Chad and I got a few good laughs out of it.

Our Story: I blew it.

It’s been awhile…but here is Chapter 2 of mine and Chad’s story. You can read Chapter 1 here if you really want. I’m going to be better about this. It really is fun to reminisce.

We hung out a lot with the new group of boys we had met. The “4th Ward Boys” or so we called them. But at this age the boys we liked seemed to change on a daily basis.

Sara and Chad started liking each other and I started liking one of Chad’s friends. But I was a roller coaster. Never sure about things. Never sure about myself.

Sara invited Kim and I over to make gingerbread houses after soccer. After we were done Chad Pitt and Brent Borgquist came over to hang out. We all sat down and talked.

That’s when a girl’s worst nightmare came true.

Mine.

Chad, Brent and Kim sat on the coach. I laid on the floor with my feet up on part of the coach. Sara was in the other room and came running back. Before I knew it she was airborne and heading straight for me. There was no time to move. She landed right on my stomach.

A loud noise burst out of me.

But, not from my mouth.

I froze in embarrassment. The room went silent. Sara was laughing so hard there was no sound coming from her. I held Sara on top of me as a million thoughts entered my head.

Run. Run as fast as you can. No, act cool. It’s not that big of a deal. Who was I kidding! This was huge. As if my braces and acne weren’t enough for my insecurities. Who farts in front of boys at 15? Nobody.

I wanted to disappear.

Someone said, “Amber, did you just fart?”

“NO!” I declared. If they were unsure, I sure wasn’t going to fess up.

Sara clarified, “Really, then why are you squeezing my arm so tight?”

My face was bright red and all I could do to help the moment pass was to maintain my tight grasp on Sara and prevent anyone from seeing my face.

There was some laughter. But, soon enough, everyone got distracted with a different conversation and moved on.

But I didn’t. I was humiliated. I had known Brent for awhile. He knew that wasn’t like me. I had known Chad for a few months. I had no clue what he thought of me now. It didn’t matter that he and Sara liked each other. He was a NEW friend. A cute one. If there was ever a chance of him liking me one day…it was over now.

It was safe to say I blew it in more ways than one.

Feelin' the L-O-V-E...

Okay, I have NO CLUE what I ever did to deserve this but I have had TWO surprise packages at my door within 4 days! Seriously, it's not my birthday or anything! Friday, I got the cute polka dot tin with goodies from one of my childhood friends, Beth. We were inseparable as kids. She moved to Northern California when we were 15. It was horrible. Once we got married we didn't keep in contact like we should have. But she convinced me to start this blog 1 1/2 years ago. We haven't seen each other for at least 8 years! But blogging rekindled that close friendship faster than I thought possible.

Then, tonight, my husband asks me:

"What did you order from ebay?"

"NOTHING. Are you sure it says my name?"
(He just got back in town so he's probably wondering what kind of internet shopping spree I went on.) "Maybe they sent the package to the wrong Amber." (Then I realize how stupid I sounded since you give the shipping address to the people on ebay.)

"Yes. It's for you." He opens the package. "What the heck! How come my friends never send me stuff!" He walks over to me and hands me a small mesh black jewelry bag that as a note: Love, Your Twin.

My twin is my roommate from BYU. People got us mixed up on campus all the time. We both had short blond hair, wore glasses occasionally, and walked around with a really serious look on our face at all times. We laughed at the first couple mix ups not really thinking we looked that much a like. At BYU there were 12 of us friends. So we had to split 6 and 6 and we lived next door to each other. I know, we scored! Anyhow, Jenni lived in the apartment next door. But at least 2-3 times a week we would pass each other on campus and we would be wearing the exact same outfit. No joke. We didn't even shop together. They were clothes we already had. Anyhow, the mix ups kept on coming and we have called each other twin ever since.

Last summer she called me to tell me she was in town. So we planned to meet at the beach. For your information we had NOT seen each other for 3 years. I walked up and by the time we got within 100 yards of each other we were busting up laughing! This is why...
...and our boys were in the EXACT same bathing suit too! Scary, huh?

Back to the mesh bag. I dumped the jewelry out as fast as I could. I screamed! I have always wanted one. Begged for one of these necklaces for Christmas. Chad wasn't having it. "It's just another fad. You never wear that darn charm bracelet you got years ago. I'm not buying you this."
Ha. My husband is jealous of something he wouldn't buy me...okay fine just the surprise gifts. My twin sent me this today...
