1st Swim Meet

Actually, they didn't compete against another team...that starts in a few weeks. Alexis is doing great. She's competed in back stroke and freestyle last year but never breast stroke or butterfly. She did all four on Saturday. They had started teaching them the feet part of breast stroke. So, I did a little dry land instruction for the rest. I was so proud of her...she stuck with it the whole way and I'm thinking she's a natural at Butterfly. A stroke she's NEVER tried before the race.

Backstroke:

Freestyle: (Alexis is in the 2nd land from where I'm video taping.)

After she finished freestyle she said:
"Mom, did I win?"
"You did awesome."
"BUT, did I win?"
"You're arms were perfect and you kicked so good."
"BUT, MOM, DID-I-WIN?"

She was so sad she didn't finish first. (And in her defense she was in the 2nd heat out of 5 heats for the age range 5-6...which means she most likely swam against all 6 year old's.) We've always talked about just improving our time each meet...not winning. I guess, WINNING, is on her agenda. Wonder where she gets that from?

Sad I didn't take pictures of breast stroke or butterfly. I thought those would be a flop...when really she did awesome at both of them.

What a wicked cool girl. I don't think she will ever not finish first again... knowing her Mom and Dad...

Conor just had his first swim meet too! This is his first year though and it was quite traumatic for him. I think in the end he enjoyed it, but it took us awhile to get there. It brings back memories though, that is for sure. She is doing amazing!
